Diversification With Integrated Management for Upliftment of People’s Lives (DWIMU)
In Bodoland

Improve the socio-economic condition of 40,000 households in the Bodoland region and contribute towards their sustainable development.
(April 2023-March 2028)

About the Project

Initiated at the invitation of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Government, this project was launched after a joint Task Force identified gaps in existing livelihood programs. A formal MoU between BRLF and the BTR Government was signed in June 2022 for a four-year term (extendable), leading to the creation of the DWIMU initiative. The project was renamed and rebranded in December 2023 as an official notification by Government of BTR with an official logo reflecting its mission.

Covering 56 VCDCs across 271 villages of three districts, the project focuses on Natural Resource Management (NRM), livelihoods, handloom, sericulture, and allied activities. Each block is supported by dedicated CSO teams specializing in thematic interventions.

The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Shri Pramod Boro, invited BRLF to collaborate in January 2021. The goal was to support comprehensive livelihood development in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) and enhance the capabilities of the Village Council Development Committees (VCDCs) and local community-based organizations. As a result, the BTC government and BRLF announced the formation of the BRLF Bodoland Task Force. The Task Force comprised members from both BTC and BRLF and was tasked with creating an approach paper outlining the potential interventions by BRLF in the BTR. The concept note was developed based on two visits made by the Task Force to Bodoland and subsequent discussions with various regional stakeholders, including community members.
